El Salvador Art and Design Festival
This year, the festival has the slogan: “Land that inspires”, and seeks to project Salvadoran fashion and design internationally.
The National Palace and the National Theater of San Salvador will be two of the stages of the second edition of the El Salvador 2023 Art and Design Festival (FADSV), which was announced at a press conference by CONAMYPE, in conjunction with the Ministry of Culture and other public and private institutions, on September 22.
“The Ministry of Culture joins CONAMYPE in the launch of this new edition of a program that has transcended borders and whose importance stands out in the field of creative industries to promote the innovation of products in the market, which intrinsically carry the seal so transcendental for the country, that of pride in what is ours,” said the Minister of Culture Mariemm Pleitez.
The purpose of the festival, which will be held from September 29 to October 1 of this year, is to show all the Salvadoran cultural richness and all the talent of the creative industry through an agenda with a great collection that will include artistic presentations, talks, lectures, workshops, concerts, fashion catwalks, fashion shows for children, a pet garment catwalk, and a gastronomic and creative fair.
The Minister of Culture shared that the National Theater will be the scene of the second day of Fashion Week, in a day that will begin early in the morning until the evening. Likewise, the National Palace will host seven creative workshops and ten talks and presentations, which will be held in the Yellow Room, from 9:00 a.m. onwards.
Also, the National Dance Company will participate, on September 30, in the Festival of Music and Art, and the marimba Alma Corazón de Niñas, from the Casa de la Cultura de Ilopango, on October 1. Both presentations at 10:30 a.m.
“We are pleased to be part of this great effort, which positions the country’s creative industries from a renewed and historic heart of the capital as a stage. These are new times, in a country that has been reborn, thanks to the climate of peace, tranquility and opportunities that we have achieved thanks to the visionary leadership of President Nayib Bukele,” concluded Minister Pleitez.
The opening of the second edition of the Festival of Art and Design of El Salvador 2023 (FADSV) will be at the National Palace, at 6:30 p.m., on September 29, with the participation of ministers, ambassadors, diplomatic corps, deputies and representatives of strategic allies such as USAID, FANTEL, LNB, representatives of sponsors and the general public.
The general public will be able to attend the festival from September 29 to October 1, starting at 10:00 a.m., during which time different activities will take place in spaces such as the Hula Hula market, Gerardo Barrios Square, National Theater and National Palace, among others. Admission is free.
This initiative will benefit more than 200 micro and small enterprises (MSEs) that are part of the activities of the SMODA Fashion and Home Cluster, and aims to be a space to promote Salvadoran cultural identity through innovation, design and art through showrooms, workshops, artistic presentations, fashion shows, talks and presentations by national and international leaders of the creative industry.
The FADSV is organized by the Government of El Salvador, through the National Commission for Micro and Small Enterprises (CONAMYPE), together with the Special Fund for Resources from the Privatization of ANTEL (FANTEL), with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the MSEs participating in the Official SMODA Cluster.
