Great project to begin anytime – even during World Creativity and Innovation Week April 15 – 21. #wciw
“You’re much more imaginative than you think, but your workplace — which needs your very best ideas — may be driving the creativity right out of you.” Professor Jeanne Liedtka, University of Virginia.
Why not use World Creativity and Innovation Week April 15-21 to enhance creativity in your workplace?
WCIW April 15-21 occurs each year to remind people to
- Generate new ideas
- Make new decisions
- Take new actions
Open the door for new potentials to emerge at the same time as are so many others all over the world.
April 15 is Leonardo da Vinci’s birthday. Using his example, combine two different needs to create an inventive idea. Combine a meeting with exercise, for example to arrive at holding a meeting where people stand. Combine a presentation with curiosity and have attendees ask questions of the presenter rather than the presenter doing a ‘show-and-tell’ to start off. Combine WCIW with lunch and together with your colleagues hold a conversation about what it might be like to have a creative workplace… and what you might do to support it.

Creativity does not start at 9 am and end at 6 pm – it is an ongoing process that we have to train ourselves to have for a lifetime, and once you are in it – you win it! If you are lucky enough to work in an environment that nurtures creativity and allows you the chance to think creatively and be creative day in and day out- consider yourself lucky!
Wouldn’t it be great to create an environment in which people feel free to be creative (new ideas, new decisions, and/or new actions to birth new futures) everyday? Why not give it a try or pilot during World Creativity and Innovation Week April 15 to 21 ? You’ve got nothing to lose.
Imagine if you were allowed to use a whole workday every week to explore any project you wanted. With no restrictions on your time or what you could do, think of the ideas you could come up with and the things you could learn about!
Genius hour. Brilliant! What a great practice to start during World Creativity and Innovation Week April 15 to 21!
