World Creativity and Innovation Day, April 21, (WCID) was born 16 years ago today, May 25, 2001, in Toronto, Canada, in response to a newspaper headline that read, “Canada in Creativity Crisis“.

WCID’s vision is for everyone around the world at the same time, uniting in creativeness, enabling people to use their creativity to make the world a better place and to make their place in the world better too.

This year, the United Nations adopted a resolution to include World Creativity and Innovation Day, April 21 among its days of observance.

This year, countless individuals, organizations, clubs, groups, schools, municipalities all over the planet sent messages and created opportunities for new thinking to happen; we connected in our creativeness worldwide. (stats coming soon)
