Creative Thinkers
Creative Thinkers is a platform that empowers young people and strengthens their ability to think creatively. We believe that the ability to think creatively is the most important skill of the 21st century but there are very few learning environments in the Caribbean that specifically nurture the skill of creative thinking. To address this and help young people reach their full potential we have developed a new approach to education where lateral thinking skills are placed at the center of the learning experience. Creative Thinkers is a new framework for teaching, which challenges students from across Barbados and the Caribbean to think differently, to ignite their imaginations, and create a knowledge base that is applicable to real life as opposed to exam scores. The World of Innovation and Creativity Creative Thinkers is designed specifically to nurture creative potential in young people throughout the Caribbean, by giving them the information, network and mentoring to pursue the opportunities they deserve. The main ingredient of the program will be to introduce students from diverse ethnic, economic and academic backgrounds to the World of Innovation and the amazing people who think creatively to solve problems in unconventional ways.Our three key areas of learning: Creative Thinkers Labs is devoted to increasing the number of creative thinkers in the Caribbean. We aspire to create learning environments where young people who see things in unconventional ways are called trailblazers and not troublemakers – where kids who learn differently become kids who think creatively. Creative Thinkers Library is focused on helping young people strengthen their creative abilities by discovering the people who live and work in The Creative World of Innovation. This online directory of amazing people who dare to solve problems in unconventional ways is backed by our local, regional and global network of successful creative thinkers and innovators from diverse professions. Creative Thinkers Live is a place to experience our LIVE Creative talks online. This database of live recorded talks from creative Thinkers, Visionaries and Education Innovators will showcase the thinking behind some of the most innovative and creative ideas of our region. We believe that this program will prepare young people to become active members of our economy, who are empowered to think entrepreneurially, embrace technology, and can create positive social change in society. Our goal is to equip the next generation of leaders with the lateral thinking skills that can enable them to thrive in school and beyond.
