Inclusive Co-Creation: Voices from the Margins

Join us for a close-up look at how five Canadian organizations are empowering the people they support to co-create their services – people who historically have been left out of the design space. These organizations have embraced the idea that the best insights come from ‘people with lived experience’, and have translated this experience into cool results. By adapting creative problem-solving tools & techniques geared to their unique abilities, organizations are collaborating, ideating, and co-creating modern supports that everyone values. In the process, they are shifting the power dynamics and improving people’s lives. Come with an open mind. Leave informed and inspired. Session Goals: Participants will learn about adapted tools & techniques used to co-create with people who have physical and developmental disabilities, autism and sensory impairments. Participants will garner an appreciation for elevating the involvement of marginalized people as active co-creators of their supports. Participants will broaden their understanding of co-creation as a process that can be used to plan at the systems, organizational, program and individual levels.
