Create.Innovate.Collaborate
The NIHERST Fab Lab will be hosting a series of activities in commemoration of World Creativity and Innovation Week (WCIW), which will focus on digital design, product development, mentorship, collaboration, export opportunities.
During WCIW, we are encouraging and embracing the idea that creativity and innovation is essential for harnessing the economic potential of our nation. Our commemoration of WCIW is aligned to NIHERST’s mandate: “to enhance the innovative, creative and entrepreneurial capabilities of the general population”.
Being hosted are two maker workshops themed around the digital fabrication of decorative Easter eggs using 1) TinkerCad and 3D printing, and 2) Inkscape and laser cutting. We have also partnered with stakeholders such as the:
1) National Export Facilitation Organization of Trinidad and Tobago (ExporTT) – to host a clinic for locals interested in accessing research, export opportunities and financing.
2) Sanian Lewis of the Sanianitos, local designer and NIHERST Fab Lab member – who will provide mentorship on the successful establishment of her brand through the use of technologies to create at the Fab Lab. Our Fab Lab is the first of its kind registered in Trinidad and Tobago, and in the region. And we are currently in the process of transitioning into a Fab Academy.
