This Literary Arts competition was developed by Ambassadors Bowman, Gilchrist and King who
proposed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, as part of its public diplomacy
programme, host a nationwide literary arts competition to commemorate WCID and the first
anniversary of the explosive eruptions of the La Soufrìere since 1979, reflecting on and documenting
the catastrophic events. The theme of the competition is “Charting Resilience; Recording Recovery”.
