Gaston Berger University of Saint Louis organized, on Tuesday March 23, 2022, at the Pr Galaye DIA Conference Room of CEA-MITIC, a workshop to study and stabilize the draft Gender and Equity Charter of the UGB. This workshop is chaired by Pr Abdoul Aziz NDIAYE, representing the rector unable to attend, and saw the participation of Pr Fatou Diop Sall, President of the Gender and Equity Unit (CGE) of the UGB, the Coordinator of the CGE of the Ministry of Higher Education, PER, PATS, and the Association of Students with Disabilities.

From the outset, Mrs. Fatou DIOP SALL, President of the Gender and Equity Unit, underlined that this new charter marks the institutional anchoring of the UGB on issues related to gender and equity. “This consensual charter carries the University’s vision and equity policy,” she explains. As such, this document will help to strengthen the conditions of study and work for women, she said.

In this respect, this new charter supports the governance of the University, training and research. This meeting also made it possible to “identify the major constraints facing the community in terms of equity and justice”. Despite these constraints, the sociologist hailed the University’s major advances in terms of fairness and consensus enabling the institution to be cleaned up.

As for Professor Abdoul Aziz NDIAYE, he magnified this workshop which makes it possible to institute measures, with a view to the application of texts and policies for the promotion of the rights of women and people with disabilities, he said. he declares. To this end, he emphasizes that this charter makes it easier to deal with problems related to equity within the University.

To conclude, he launched an appeal for the involvement of all stakeholders in the execution of this new charter which will serve as a barometer and aid in decision-making.

All in all, the restitution of the work resulting from the sectoral workshops put an end to this workshop.

L’Université Gaston Berger de Saint louis a organisé, le Mardi 23 Mars 2022, à la Salle de Conférence Pr Galaye DIA du CEA-MITIC, un atelier d’étude et de stabilisation du projet de charte Genre et Equité de l’UGB. Cet atelier est présidé par le Pr Abdoul Aziz NDIAYE, représentant le recteur empêché, et a vu la participation du Pr Fatou Diop Sall, Présidente de la Cellule Genre et Equité (CGE) de l’UGB, la Coordonnatrice de la CGE du Ministère de l’Enseignement Supérieur, du PER, du PATS, et de l’Association des Étudiants en Situation de Handicap.

D’emblée, Mme Fatou DIOP SALL, Présidente de la Cellule Genre et Équité, a souligné que cette nouvelle charte marque l’ancrage institutionnel de l’UGB sur les questions liées au genre et à l’équité. << Cette charte consensuelle porte la vision et la politique d'équité de l'Université » précise-t-elle. A ce titre, « ce document permettra de renforcer les conditions d'études et de travail des femmes >> a-t-elle fait savoir.

Sous ce rapport, cette nouvelle charte prend en charge la gouvernance de l’Université, la formation et la recherche. Cette rencontre a aussi permis « d’identifier les contraintes majeures auxquelles la communauté fait face en terme d’équité et de justice ». En dépit de ces contraintes, la sociologue a salué les avancées majeures de l’Université en termes d’équité et de consensus permettant d’assainir l’institution.

Quant au Professeur Abdoul Aziz NDIAYE, il a magnifié cet atelier qui permet « d’instituer des mesures, en vue de l’application des textes et politiques de promotion des droits de la femme et des personnes en situation de handicap » a-t-il déclaré. A cet effet, il souligne que cette charte permet davantage de prendre en charge les problèmes liés à l’équité au sein de l’Université.

Pour conclure, il a lancé un appel à l’implication de toutes les parties prenantes dans l’exécution de cette nouvelle charte qui va servir de baromètre, et d’aide à la prise de décision.

Tout compte fait, la restitution des travaux issus des ateliers sectoriels a mis fin à cet atelier.
